Moving day.

Today was the day that you have been waiting for ever since you started high school. After intense studying for your college entrance exams, you have been accepted into the school of your dreams. Your parents even helped you find an apartment nearby the university you were attending. Though everything was exciting, you couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness. Yes, you were excited for the independence you were gaining, but for some reason you couldn't bring yourself to be super excited about leaving your hometown. Even though you were going to miss your parents, you knew they were happy to see you grow up. They were probably happier than you would've liked, but they were still happy nonetheless. There was one person you cherished and you had to leave him behind. It was your best friend. Keishin Ukai.

"Alright [Name]," your father said as he put the last of your belongings into the trunk of his car. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yup!" you shouted. You plastered on a fake smile and tried to make yourself sound happier than you really were. This was supposed to be a happy occasion and you just couldn't bring yourself to tell your family about your true emotions.

"Have fun!" your mother said as she embraced you as tight as her small arms would let her.

Once your mother finally released you, you waved goodbye to her and got into your dad's car. As your father drove off, you could still see your mother standing in the middle of the driveway as she watched the vehicle you were in drive away.

"Are you excited for university?" you dad asked as his eyes were focused on the road ahead.

"Yes and no," you answered honestly. "It's exciting to finally be on my own, but it's also nerve-wracking."

"You'll most likely be fine," your father had a smile on his face as he tried to encourage you. Even though you knew he was being genuine, your heart still raced with anxiety at the thought of being an adult. Your father took a quick glance away to look at you. He saw how anxious even though he gave you some encouragement. Without another word, your father changed the direction he was driving.

"Where are you going?" you asked your father.

"Keishin is usually practicing with his grandfather on weekends right?" your father asked.

"Yeah."

"Good."

You knew exactly what your dad was planning. He knew if his words couldn't get through to you, then Keishin would be able to calm you down. As erratic and fowl mouthed as Keishin could be, you knew his encouragement would get to you better than your dad's. Luckily your dad knew that as well as he drove to where Keishin is believed to be. Luckily once your dad pulled into the driveway, you could hear Ikkei yelling at Keishin from the inside of your car. You got out of the car and headed to the backyard where you saw Ikkei throw at a volleyball right at Keishin's head.

"I see the two of you are bickering as always," you commented as you walked over to the two.

"It's not my fault my grandson's incompetent when it comes to volleyball," Ikkei said.

Keishin huffed as he rubbed the back of his head. "Anyway what are you doing here?" Keishin asked. "Aren't you supposed to leaving for university today?"

"Yeah," you answered. "But my dad brought me here. He thought you could help with my anxiety."

"Your old man has too much faith in me," Keishin replied bluntly. "Do I really look like the supportive type?"

You sighed in slight aggravation at your best friend. He's not wrong, but it wouldn't kill him to at least try. But even though he said he isn't very supportive, he rubbed your head and said "You'll be fine."

Those three words made you feel so much better. You don't know what it was, but you just felt at ease with Keishin's laidback and simple words. You smiled at Keishin and thanked him. You heard your father's car horn go off, signaling you to come back to the car.

"Well I guess it's time for me to get to the car," you announced. "Make sure not to get in a lot of trouble while I'm gone. I won't be able to save you this time."

"I make no promises," Keishin joked.

Just as you were about to walk away, you felt a tug at your arm. Before you could process anything, your head was against Keishin's chest and his arms were around you. You smiled and returned the hug.

"You better not forget about me," he whispered.

"Trust me, I couldn't forget you even if I tried," you replied.

After a few moments, Keishin was able to let go of you. Even though he let go of you, you still wanted to feel his embrace. But your father was growing impatient as you could hear him repeatedly hitting the car horn. You waved goodbye to both Keishin and Ikkei and walked back to your father's car. You sat in the car silent for the rest of the ride. Even though it was quiet, your father knew that you felt at ease. But even though you were at ease you were still sad. You knew you were going to miss Keishin tremendously.

"So when are you getting married?" your mother asked you.

You sighed as you held your cellphone to you ear and tried to finish the work you were currently doing on your laptop. "Is that the reason why you called me?" you asked your mother as you rolled your eyes, irritated with your mother's pestering.

"You aren't getting any younger," your mother commented bluntly.

"Well this can be a conversation for when I visit you this tomorrow," you replied. "I have a lot of work I have to do. Bye"

Before your mother could say anything else, you hung up the phone. You tossed your phone to the side and rubbed your temples since you felt a headache coming in. Recently your parents, particularly your mother, won't stop pestering you about getting married soon. Apparently your mother wants grandkids badly. She's even gone to the extent of asking her neighbors if they have single sons or relatives. While she's out playing matchmaker, you've been living in an apartment in Tokyo working at a marketing firm. You've been thriving at your job and you are happy that you are exceling at your job. Though you have been exceling rapidly at your job, you haven't been able to visit your hometown often. That's why you took the weekend off to go visit your parents! Even though you mother had been pushing buttons you didn't know you had, you still missed her greatly.

The next day you finally made it to your parents house in one piece. When you got out of your car and headed toward the door, your mother didn't hesitate to open the door. She didn't even wait for you to knock. You knew she was waiting anxiously for you arrive, so it didn't surprise you when she opened the door for you.

"[Name]!" your mother shouted.

She quickly pulled you inside and shouted that you arrived. Your father walked down the stairs and then gave you hug. You returned the hug and then went over to your mother and hugged her as well. Your mother announced that she just finished making dinner. You sat the table with your family. All of you guys started eating and catching up. Of course your other kept pestering you about marriage, but lucky for you, your father was there to back you up. Though they began to bicker about when your marital status should change, you were still happy to be with them.

                                                                                            *****
It was late at night. Dinner was over and both of your parents were fast asleep. Though everyone was asleep you couldn't fall asleep. Though you knew it was dangerous, you decided to go take a walk. You weren't going to stay here for a long time, so you wanted to do something you used to do all the time. You wanted to take a peaceful walk around you neighborhood. But you weren't walking around to just to clear your mind or anything. You were hoping you could run into someone you haven't seen in the past 8 years.

Keishin Ukai.

You haven't seen him in since you've left for university. You still missed him.

"Get out of here!" a familiar voice shouted.

You turned in the direction of the voice and it came from the nearby convenience store. You saw some high school boys get some sort of food thrown at them. You walked into the convenience store and there you saw a blond haired man sitting at the counter smoking a cigarette. You knew immediately who it was.

"Well I see you're still aggressive as ever," you commented.

Keishin looked up and his face didn't change from his usual grumpy expression. "Do I know you?" Keishin asked.

Your heart sank. You started to cringe as you felt embarrassed at this awkward encounter. "It's [Name]," you reminded him. "You know, your best friend in high school."

A smile appeared on his face. "I know," he said. "I was just teasing."

You breathed a sigh of relief. You walked over to Keishin and stood by the counter. Keishin offered you a cigarette but you kindly rejected his offer. "I see you're back in town," Keishin commented. "Your mother told me, you're working in Tokyo."

You nodded. "I work at a marketing firm," you informed him. "I see you're running your mother's shop."

"Yeah," he answered. "It's simple work and not too terrible."

"Are you still playing volleyball?"

"I'm actually coaching the boy's volleyball team at Karasuno."

Keishin began to explain how the team is improving on all of their individual skills. He even explained this short boy along with this genius setter were able to come up with this quick attack that always throws off opponents. As he explained this current condition of all the team members, you saw that there was a sparkle in his eyes. You could see the passion he was exuding from him at the thought of his team getting stronger. You smiled at Keishin as he explained the current state of everything.

"I hope you can see them some day," Keishin said. "They are really a sight to see."

"I bet," you answered. "Hopefully I'll be visiting again, but for a longer period of time. Maybe I'll see them in action."

Keishin smiled at the thought of having you see his team. He has missed you so much these past 8 years, he doesn't even know to process the fact that you are in front of him at this moment.

The two of you won't say it out loud, but both of you knew that you didn't want this moment to end.

Yeaaaah I'm going to rewrite this story. It's not my best, but I do hope you enjoy in it's current state.
